This is my entry for illustration friday this week. Medusa is trying to tame her hair before her date...and seems to be unsuccesful...
I had a thing for macarons. My dream is to be able to make macarons in cute kawaii characters. Since I'm just a beginner, I wanted to create the original round shape first. If I succeed in making the main cookies, then the kawaii characters should be easier. As a lot of people mentioned in videos/blogs, macarons are finicky. I wish it's as easy as the comic I made, haha. I failed both attempts. The first time I made it, there was no ridges, but they are quite close.
Second attempt: they look and taste like other types of cookies. I didn't take picture of it. So, I spent Christmas day making macarons and failed. No more almond meal flour left (they are quite expensive here), so... I'll probably do another attempt when I get back here next Chinese New Year. Will update the progress again. Merry Christmas to you all and how do you spent your Christmas day?
Reached Jakarta around 12 am midnight and reached home by 1 am. The flight was delayed because of technical issues, and they needed to work to change the plane. Annoying part from this experience, there was no formal announcement - instead, after we went in to the gate, they asked everybody to change to different gate, and this new gate actually was going to Phuket at that time! The announcement happened only when we were in the plane and the pilot mentioned about it.
When I was queuing, I asked auntie nearby, because it's hard to go out of the queue, check the screen further from the queue, then she said: "You don't know meh? You didn't see the board is it?" - This is also one of the annoying experience, anyway, I got out from the queue, I asked the security officer for further clarity, and they also mentioned, it will be delayed. There wasn't anything announced for them as well, and they only knew the delayed timing.
Reached home super tired, but in a positive note, because of the changes of the plane, I can be at home today. Enjoying my time here for the next 2 weeks.
I read more books than last year. Yeah, 12 books are not that many for some people, but it's for me! I bought a Kindle thinking I could train myself to read more books (my first Kindle bought was year 2016), then suddenly I lost it! It might have been dropped in the bus! Since then, it's hard for me to read traditional books. I know! Most people that read books, they prefer the traditional ones. I prefer digital ones, and I find Kindle is really helpful for my reading habit because I can just read anywhere (especially on the bus), and I would carry the same item for reading. I bought a new Kindle Paperwhite when it was on sale around Sept this year, and I completed 12 books since then! First, when I started, I don't really know what kind of books that I might like, so I read all the free ones from Amazon, then starting to find recommendations from Goodreads. I'm currently reading, "And There Were None" by Agatha Christie. Looking forward to add more books to my collection next year!
Finally I have bit of time to revamp my old website, I deleted my old one in Tumblr, I guess all of the posts are in Instagram anyway, so it's just a repetition. Can't believe it's already end of the year! I'll be flying back to JKT tonight and spend the rest of the year in JKT. Next posts will be from JKT, Ciao!
